  SOTA (summits on the air)
SOTA is all about "activating" mountain peaks according to the rules set down by the SOTA organisation. You can be an "activator" (The one who climbs up them) or a chaser (sit and wait to talk to the crazy fool who does the climbing). In either case points are available to go towards such coveted awards as "shack sloth" and "mountain goat". loads of info available here (SOTA). To claim a peak you must work 4 stations. Easier said than done some days!
